Did You Know? What’s the Difference Between a Business Visa (Non-B Visa) and a Work Permit?
- Non-Immigrant B Visa
This is a document that allows foreign nationals to enter and stay in Thailand legally for business or employment purposes. It is issued by Thai embassies or consulates under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, holding this visa alone does not grant permission to work; a valid Work Permit is also required before any employment can commence.
- Work permit
This is a document that authorizes foreign nationals to work legally in Thailand. It is issued by the Department of Employment and clearly specifies details such as the job position, employer, and workplace.
Working in Thailand requires both a valid work visa and a work permit. If either one is missing, the employment will be considered illegal under Thai law.
