Important things to know before registering a company online

    • The company name must be unique and not similar to any existing company.
    • If there are foreign shareholders or directors, it is necessary to check the Foreign Business Act and prepare the relevant supporting documents.
    • After registration, you should proceed with VAT registration and social security registration if you have employees, to ensure smooth operations.

Update! The Department of Business Development (DBD) has extended the closure period for walk-in company registration counters by another 6 months.

Originally July 1, 2025, now extended to December 31, 2025.

This extension allows businesses more time to fully transition to the online registration system.

Advantages of registering a company online:

1. Greater convenience: The process can be completed more quickly. However, first-time registrants may need time to study the guidelines carefully, and errors in document preparation may occur, so thorough attention is required to ensure accuracy.

2. Secure and verifiable system: Every step is conducted through the system developed by the Department of Business Development (DBD), featuring identity verification (eKYC) and legally recognized digital signatures. Importantly, all information can be audited retrospectively, effectively preventing document forgery.

3. Time-saving and streamlined process: Procedures are faster, as important documents such as the company certificate and other key files can be downloaded immediately after registration is complete.

Disadvantages of registering a company online:

1.Requires technology skills: Users must understand how to navigate the DBD website, fill out online forms, upload documents, and apply a digital signature themselves. Inexperienced users may make errors or submit incomplete documents, which can result in the application being rejected.

2.Attaching multiple documents can be complex: Documents must be scanned clearly and comply with the required format, such as PDF files within size/page limits. Some documents require a handwritten signature before scanning, so users need to distinguish between using a digital signature and a physical signature, and may also face limitations with available equipment.

3.No in-person consultation : When registering online independently, there is no staff guidance or document review before submission. Even minor errors, such as misspelling the company name or mistakes in ID numbers, may require resubmitting the entire application.
